EFFLUXION OF TIME
When thinking about Halloween, the first thing that comes to mind is fear – but not the kind found in haunted houses or scary costumes. While people of all ages seek thrill in experiences rooted in fear by dressing up in frightening costumes or hanging eerie decorations, these classic Halloween traditions don’t scare me. What I fear most is the constant passage of time. In my piece, “Effluxion of time”, I explore the anxiety that comes as time slips away. Whether it is the pressure of an upcoming deadline, the inevitable experience of aging, or the loss of youth, the passing of time is what I fear most. I always feel as if I am racing against the clock trying to catch up or hold on. To express this fear, I use mold as a symbol to represent the unavoidable passage of time. “Effluxion of Time” explores the quiet and slow dread of passing time and my constant struggle to fight against the clock as fleeting moments slip away.
