HALLOWEEN BRIDE:  THE UNSPOKEN HORRORS OF WOMEN'S REPRODUCTIVE CARE IN A RED STATE

The inspiration behind my pumpkin is the everyday horrors that women cross Texas and other red states are facing when it comes to reproductive healthcare.  I wanted to kind of base my pumpkin off of the Carrie idea, but then I realized how close to home this them hit.  The bridal veil, the idea of white and purity, but then blood soaked.  For many women like me, we have faced so many delays in treatment, dismissals, and even in some cases, death.  My experience living with endometriosis and living in a state where my life is at risk if something were to happen, while the restrictions are increasing more and more, is a horror that we should not have to face.  The restrictions and risk to our lives is horrifying, and what better holiday to raise awareness to that then Halloween.
